Words you will see
Click tries not to use jargon. Some of it is unavoidable, because it is written on the hardware or on the screen, so here is what each one means, in plain terms.
About selling
Bundle / package What a customer buys. An hour, a day, a week of WiFi at a set speed.
Hotspot The paid WiFi network itself: the thing customers connect to and log in to.
Login page / portal The page a customer sees instead of the internet until they pay. Also called a captive portal.
Voucher Another word for a bundle, used mostly where the customer pays cash and is handed a code. Click sells by mobile money instead, so you will rarely need this word.
Session One device, connected once. A customer with a two-device bundle using a phone and a laptop has two sessions.
Top-up Buying again before the current bundle has run out. Extends the time; keeps the same password.
About money
Settlement / payout / disbursement All the same thing: money moving from your Click balance to your mobile money number.
Balance Your share of completed sales that has not been paid out yet.
Gross What the customer paid, before Click's fee.
Net What is yours, after Click's fee. This is what your balance grows by.
Revenue share Paying nothing upfront and giving up a share of each sale instead. The opposite of a licence fee.
About the hardware
Router The box your internet line plugs into, that makes the WiFi.
MikroTik A brand of router. If you already own one, you are on WISP Billing.
RouterOS The software running on a MikroTik. You will see a version number for it. You never need to do anything with it.
Click OS Our own router software, on our own appliance. If you bought a box from us, this is what is on it.
Port A socket on the router you plug a cable into. Usually numbered: ether1, ether2 and so on.
Uplink / WAN / internet port The port your internet line plugs into. Click never touches it.
Access point A separate box that only makes WiFi, plugged into your router. Used to cover a bigger area.
Bridge Several ports joined so they behave as one network. Click builds one for your customers and manages it itself.
Things you might see on a screen
Needs repair The router's settings no longer match what Click set up. Press Repair WiFi settings.
Keeps dropping The router has reconnected many times in a day. Usually the internet line or the power.
Pending activation The router has never reported in. The setup file has not been run, or did not finish.
Sites reachable without paying Addresses customers can open before they have paid. Also called a walled garden.
Activation token A one-time code that pairs a Click OS box to your account.
Reference The number your router uses to identify a package. Click sets it; you never type it.
Words we deliberately avoid
You will not see config drift, CIDR, DHCP pool, NAT or RADIUS anywhere you have to make a decision. Where the underlying idea matters, it is written out in ordinary words instead. If you ever find one of these on a screen where you are being asked to choose something, tell us; that is a bug in the writing.
