What each port is for

Under Network on the router page. Every port and radio is listed, and each one is set to one of three things.

The three settings

Customers Part of the paid WiFi network. Anything connected here sees your login page and must pay. This is the default for every port except your internet one.

My equipment A separate network for things that belong to you: cameras, a printer, a back-office PC. They get the internet and skip the login page entirely, which matters because none of them can sign in to one.

Off Disabled. Nothing works on it.

Your internet port is not in the list

Deliberately. Click works out which port carries your internet line and never touches it, so it cannot be reassigned by accident, which would take the whole site offline, including the router's ability to tell you what happened.

Plugging in an access point

To cover more area than the router's own radio reaches, plug an access point into any Customers port.

Set the access point to bridge mode. Switch off its own DHCP and NAT. If you do not, every customer behind that access point looks like a single customer to the hotspot: they will all share one login, and one person's purchase will appear to let everybody on.

This is the single most common WiFi mistake on a new site, and the symptom is confusing: it looks like customers are getting online without paying.

The network for your own equipment

Set the ports your equipment uses to My equipment, then set a router address for that network under A network for your own equipment.

10.30.0.1/24 is a safe choice. It must not overlap your customer network.

Click hands out no addresses on this network on purpose: you set each device by hand, so a camera stays at the address you gave it instead of moving after a power cut. On each device, use the router address you set as both its gateway and its DNS.

After changing anything

Press Save & send to router. Changes reach the router on its next check-in, about a minute.

Customers already online keep their connection until their device next asks for an address, so a change during trading hours is not the disruption it sounds like, but it is still better done quietly.
